Biography
I am a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Michigan in the MDO Lab. In July 2022, I completed a PhD in Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT, where I focused on developing optimization algorithms that are well suited for aircraft design. Prior to this, I was an Associate Technical Staff member at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, and have also spent time at NASA Armstrong (formerly Dryden) Flight Research Center, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, and Boeing Research and Technology.
My research interests generally reside at the intersection between applied mathematics and aerospace vehicle design. This includes optimization, uncertainty quantification, physics based model development, mathematical modeling, and surrogate modeling. I have applied these interests to a number of practical aircraft design problems including novel configurations and powertrains for subsonic commercial transport aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, and sustainable aviation. I also have interests in model verification and validation, and sub-scale testing.
When not working, I enjoy racing sailboats, curling, and cycling. I also have a pilot's licence and fly RC airplanes.
